Courses
Physical Science (9th
Year)
The course is an overview of
the natural sciences incorporating introductory aspects of chemistry,
physics, and life sciences. Students will develop laboratory skills and
methods necessary for all science investigations. In addition, the
course will involve analysis of data, experiment design and graphing.
Living Environment (9th
Year Scholars/Honors & 10th Year)
Includes all topics in the
New York State Regents syllabus. Students will take the Living
Environment Regents. Topics include anatomy, physiology, taxonomy of
plants and animals, molecular biology, ecology and the practical
application of these concepts. In addition the course will involve
analysis of data, design of experiments and acquiring of skills such as
reading comprehension, research and graphing.

Chemistry (10th Year
Scholars/Honors & 11th Year Elective)
Includes all topics in the
New York State Regents syllabus. The Regents Examination is the final
examination in this course. A reasonable ability in mathematics is
required for this course.
Earth Science (10th
Year; 11th & 12th Year Elective)
A study of the physical world
in which we live. Topics include astronomy, physical and historical
geology, oceanography, and meteorology.

General Chemistry (11th
& 12th Years)
Topics include quantitative
chemistry, organic chemistry, and general chemical principles. The
emphasis of the course is on the practical applications of these
concepts.
Physics (11th/12th Year
Elective)
A college preparatory study
of mechanics, heat, wave motion, sound, light, electricity, magnetism,
and atomic and nuclear physics. The course is a usual requirement for a
continuation of scientific studies at the college level. A reasonable
ability in mathematics is required for this course.

Advanced Placement
Biology (12th Year Elective)
A course in advanced
biological topics, including biochemistry, cell biology, anatomy,
physiology and genetics. The course is of special interest to students
planning to continue their studies in advanced scientific or health
fields. Prerequisites include courses in Living Environment and
Chemistry. There is an examination fee set by the Educational Testing
Service.
Forensics Science
Forensic science is the
application of science to those criminal and civil laws that are
enforced by police agencies in a criminal justice system. The
focus of forensic science is the crime lab, using the principles and
techniques of biology, chemistry, physics, geology, anthropology, and
other sciences in order to place physical evidence into a professional
discipline. This course will be offered as an elective course to
those students who have not had chemistry.
