The program of studies
offered is based on a three year sequence. Students are required to study the
same language for at least three successive years.
Spanish/Italian 1 (9th
Year)
These courses are intended
for those students who have little or no previous experience in foreign
language. The aim of the course is to give the students the material and
experience needed to communicate in the foreign language. By the end of
the year, students will be able to comprehend, initiate and respond to
simple statements and questions, and to engage in simple face-to-face
conversations with the vocabulary, structure and phonology appropriate
at this level.
Spanish/Italian 2 (10th
Year)
For those students who have
successfully completed the first year course. The aim of these courses
is to increase facility in language usage in the four skills, speaking,
listening, reading, and writing.
Spanish/Italian 3 (11th
Year)
For those students who have
successfully completed the second year course. Upon successful
completion of these courses, students will be able to: comprehend short
conversations on simple topics in everyday situations; initiate and
sustain a conversation; understand simple narratives and descriptive
authentic materials and edited texts within a familiar context; write
simple notes, letters, and short reports.
