The purpose of St. Peter's
Dress Code is to foster a sense of neatness in our students and to prepare them
adequately for the quality of completion in whatever career they aspire to. As
such, it is an important ingredient of the school's total educational philosophy
and hence will be strictly encouraged. Failure to observe the proper Dress Code
will be subject to detention.
Winter Dress Code
1) School Sweater
2) Dress shirt with a sensible tie in place.
3) Clean, neatly pressed pants (No dungarees, athletic, or patch pocket, cargo
or painter pants).
4) Dress shoes (heavy work boots or black sneakers are not permitted).
5) Hair neatly groomed (it should not extend over the collar of the suit jacket
or
shirt).
6) Faces must be clean-shaven with sideburns trimmed (mustaches are not
permitted).
7) No dyeing or bleaching of hair. Hair styles are subject to approval
of the Dean of Discipline.
8) School shoes are required for all students.
Summer Dress
Code
1) Authorized school shirt in lieu of school sweater, dress shirt and
tie. Note: Dress code continues to be in effect during all exams and
regents.
2) All other aspects of the dress code (numbers 3 - 8) remain in effect.
The following statements
are thought necessary for the clear understanding of the above
regulations:
1) Coats or jackets worn to
and from school are NOT SUBSTITUTES for the School Sweater worn in
school. No dungaree or Army jackets may be worn to or from school.
2) Ties must be worn in place at all times (except during gym classes)
during the school day.
3) Shirts lacking a collar button should not be worn.
4) Dungarees, work pants, soiled or tattered pants frayed at the bottom
are NOT acceptable.
5) Turtleneck shirts in lieu of a tie are not permitted.
6) Students are not to wear jewelry which may be considered morally
objectionable (playboy bunny heads, razor blades, etc.).
7) A single stud-type earring (in lower lobe of one ear only) is
permitted.
